Amsel Suite: Quickstart Guide

amsel suite tutorial

You've just purchased the Amsel Suite and would like to start your adventure? We're here to help!

Discover our step-by-step tutorial to downloading the launcher, installing the software and starting to write your world on Lore.

Please note that all these steps must be performed from a desktop or laptop computer. The Amsel Suite is available for Windows, MacOS and Linux applications.

Downloading the launcher

After your purchase on our website, return to your account using the icon at the top right of your screen

On this page, you can download our launcher. And don't forget to validate your e-mail (check your junk folder if you haven't received anything when doing so).

Set up Tome and Lore

Once you've downloaded the Amsel Suite launcher, open it. From here, you can download Tome, our software for roleplaying and Lore, our worldbuilding program.

Don't delete the launcher once you've installed the software, as it will enable you to install updates and take advantage of the new features

Create your first Lory

Once you've installed both programs, you'll be able to create your first Lory. Although it's possible to start with Tome directly, we recommend that you start with Lore, which will enable you to create your own universe.

As a reminder, Lore is a worldbuilding software, while Tome is a storytelling dashboard for creating role-playing scenarios.

Tome will be useful later, for storytelling and starting a game with your players. What's more, the programs are compatible, so you can easily link them together.

Click on “Create a new Lory”, give it a name and save it directly to your local computer. After confirming, a blank page will open.

Creating a Template

To begin writing your Lory, you’ll first need to create a Template using the button on the right of your screen.

You'll then be able to create a Template that will be applied to the various linked pages. For example, you might want to start by creating a list of important characters in your world. In this case, you would write “Important Characters” in the Template name and choose “People” in the category.

You can now start customizing your Important Characters Template by adding the various blocks shown on the right: image, text and rune. To do so, simply drag and drop the various elements that interest you.

Note that this Template will subsequently apply to all the Important Characters you define.

You can return to the Template at any time, and the changes will apply to all linked pages. There's no need to worry about the completeness of your first draft: all modifications to the Template are retroactive!

When you're happy with your Template, you can create a new page using the icon in the top right-hand corner.

You'd now like to create the “Queen of the Kingdom” as an Important Character. To do so, name the page and choose “Important Characters” from the drop-down list

After submitting, the Template you've created will appear on the page. You can then enter all the information about the Queen of the Kingdom.

If you feel that some information is missing, you can go back to your original Template and add more blocks of text, images or runes. (A full tutorial on the use of runes is coming soon).

You can then create new templates, such as important places, mythical animals, social facts and much more!

Save your file

When you've finished, click on the ellipsis at the top left of the screen to save your file. It will then reappear in Lore, in the list of your recent files.
